BEYOND BEGBIE (14 min)

Directed by Zoya Lynch, Produced by Nat Segal

One of our 6 Favorite Films at the Banff Mountain Film Festival” - Outside Magazine

Standing tall over the Revelstoke valley Mount Begbie has inspired an entire community. It is iconicized in the logos and names of local businesses, featured heavily in artists’ works, is photographed by every visiting tourist, and is explored by the outdoor enthusiast - no matter the season. Climbing Mt Begbie is a “right of passage” for every local hiker, climber, sledder, and skier. While this peak has created an entire contemporary culture in Revelstoke, its name and story only represent colonial history, with no reference to the Indigenous heritage of this land.

A Lynch Sisters Film

“One of the most interesting ski movies of the year” - Outside Magazine

Kindred is the story about a family’s unlikely journey to becoming backcountry lodge owners and how their parents' leap-of-faith set the course for their personal and professional paths. Through archival photos and interviews with the family, combined with stunning imagery of Amiskwi Lodge in the Canadian Rockies, this film inspires viewers to consider their own leaps-of-faith and how the choices they make can influence generations to come.

Kindred premiered at the Banff Mountain Film Festival in October 2018.
